Roode Wins US Title, EC3 in Royal Rumble? Foley & Trish on Raw 25
The finals of the United States Championship tournament had been set to take place at the Royal Rumble event on January 28th, but WWE decided to finish off the tournament on last night’s Smackdown show instead. The final match of the tournament saw Bobby Roode take on Jinder Mahal to crown the next champion. After a hard fought match, Bobby Roode was able to pin Jinder after hitting the Glorious DDT. Roode is now the United States Champion, making it his first championship win on WWE’s main roster. One would think that former champion Dolph Ziggler will be on his way back to television soon to face Roode for the title at some point in the future.
I had a goal in mind tonight: win and advance.

Ethan Carter III only left Impact Wrestling a few days ago, but it has been reported that he is already free and clear to sign with any wrestling company that he chooses. With WWE reportedly showing interest in signing him to a deal, speculation that Carter will be joining the company soon is higher than it ever has been before. It has also now been confirmed that Carter will not longer be wrestling on the Renegade Wrestling Revolution show that he had been booked for on January 28th. What makes that so interesting is that the show is scheduled to take place on the same day as the Royal Rumble. It definitely seems possible that Carter could be appearing in the 30-man WWE match on that day instead.
New guest stars and surprise cameos are continuing to be announced for Raw’s upcoming 25th anniversary show each and every single day. One name mysteriously absent from the lineup is Raw icon Mick Foley. When asked about an upcoming appearance on the show during an interview with the Mirror, Foley said, “I’ve been invited, I’m trying to clear out time from something I had already committed to. Whether I’m there in person or not, I believe I will be there in spirit.” While Foley’s status is still in the air at the moment, it has been confirmed that Trish Stratus will be making an appearance on the show on January 22nd.
