During the interview, Johnny spoke candidly about the recent drama between him and Austin Aries, building up to their main event championship match at this month’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view.

While the in-ring action of their high-stakes title bout was certainly widely acclaimed, things got very real, and very heated between the two after a social media exchange pushed too far. In a series of tweets issued by Aries (they were lated deleted), the former champ insulted Johnny’s wife, fellow Impact star Taya Valkyrie, calling her “husky”

“He crossed the line,” Johnny stated in his interview. “He legitimately pissed me off with that tweet.”

In the interest of full disclosure, he also admitted to intentionally antagonizing his opponent, revealing that he actually made short jokes as Aries’ expense because he knew he hated them so much.

Impact also believes that Aries “crossed the line” in his behavior after their match, cursing out company officials and flipping off both him, management and the crowd on his way out. Check out a full transcript from the interview below.

“The beef that him and I had was 100% real.” … “He crossed the line. He legitimately pissed me off with that tweet that you mentioned, specifically. I really think it’s because I tweeted a short joke at him. He hates short jokes, and I knew he hated short jokes, which is why I tweeted a thing like that at him.”

“You’re having a Twitter war. We’re throwing, flinging poo back and forth. I feel like I nailed him with a nice piece of poop, and he took the poop and threw it at Taya. That pissed me off. I’m making light of it now because we’re over it. It’s past. It’s done. But it did get me legitimately hot.”

“Never say never in wrestling. This whole situation is something I’ve been thinking about, because I am really proud of that match. He pushed me in a way, in the ring that I haven’t been pushed in awhile. It would be hard to have that much real emotion against someone that I didn’t really want to strangle.”

“He didn’t have to do what he did at the end of the match. If he had just gone a step or two less far, him and I could have been cool. The office could have been cool with him. He could have worked out the contract thing, and he could have still been at Impact. I’m not saying that I’m sorry about the way that it worked out. I’m not going to miss him, and I don’t think many people in the Impact locker room are going to miss him either.”
