WWE Returning to Full Sail University Tonight for NXT TV Tapings; Takeover Fallout, New Stars Debuting?
WWE returns to Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL this afternoon to tape several episodes of NXT television, in the wake of a wildly successful NXT Takeover special in Chicago. They will be taping content through the July 18th episode.
WHO’S NEXT? After barely scrapping by the monstrous Lars Sullivan this past weekend at Takeover, who will be next to step up to the plate and challenge NXT Champion Aleister Black?THE DREAM IS DEAD. After Velveteen Dream suffered a tough loss to Ricochet on Saturday, the defeated superstar looked like he may have given up altogether. With Ricochet likely moving up and on to bigger and better things, how will the Dream bounce back and find his groove again?THE ERA OF NX3. EC3 was left off the Takeover Chicago card, but has vowed that he will never let that happen again. After defeating Kassius Ohno and racking up the wins on NXT television, we’re looking for EC3 to step up into his first legitimate feud as a part of the black-and-yellow brand. WHO WILL STEP UP? Shayna Baszler successfully defended the NXT Women’s Championship against Nikki Cross, moving past her most difficult challenge to date. With the former Sanity member potentially moving on, that leaves a big gap in the women’s division for someone to step up and make a big impact. Will Kairi Sane go for the gold one more time? Perhaps a big come-up for the newcomers Bianca Belair or Lacey Evans?MUSTACHE MOUNTAIN! In case you missed it, Trent Seven and Tyler Bate defeated the Undisputed Era this week in the UK to become the new NXT Tag Team Champions. With the tricky delay in the UK Championship Tournament, will we see the Brits appear at tonight’s tapings, or will the champs be MIA?
It’s worth noting that while Keith Lee did appear in the crowd at NXT Takeover, he will most likely not be working tonight’s television tapings. That’s not for certain, and he could very well appear if they want to rush him to the roster, but Triple H said in a recent media call that they wanted to let Lee “land” on the ground first and get the hang of things at the Performance Center before throwing him to the wolves.
Io Shirai is still in Japan after her farewell ceremony this week for the Stardom promotion, so she will not be making her debut. It’s likely her arrival is still a ways off, and more than likely we’ll see her in the recently announced Mae Young Classic II.
We’ll have complete, spoiler-filled NXT television taping results for you later this evening.
